After nearly a year of teasing the new model, New Balance’s 1890 runner finally arrived earlier this year. With Spring coming up fast, the Boston brand has prepared new colors for their latest, like this “Boysenberry” style dropping next week.

The first public appearance of New Balance’s 1890 model surfaced early in 2025, during the January Paris Fashion Week. The shoe was originally teased in a moccasin construction for the upper, which we now know as the 1890A, coming later this year. The standard-issue version of the new model is much more in-line with what we expect from NB, a techy runner with plenty of layering and unique shapes across the upper. The forefoot features a series of tooth-like taped overlays reaching from the mudguard to the laces, giving the 1890 a very aggressive aesthetic. This week, the Boston brand has added a new color to their release calendar for next week, coloring the shoe in “Boysenberry” purple. This dark regal shade is paired with Punch Yellow accents for mid layers and N logos, with a splash of red to complete the look.

New Balance’s next release of their fresh 1890 runner has been scheduled to land next week, on April 16th, 2026. This pair brings a loud palette to the tech runner, colored in a deep “Boysenberry” purple with red and yellow accents. Pairs will be available through the brand’s website as well as select retailers for $180.
