Wales Bonner has become one of the crown jewels in adidas’ stable of collaborators over the last few years. This season, they are giving a retro running shoe its first-ever global release. Check out their one-for-one remake of the Adios Neftenga, coming soon.

In 2008, adidas created a special high-performance running shoe for one of their athletes, the Ethiopian runner Haile Gebrselassie, called the Neftenga. The model was a part of their Adios family of silhouettes, and was worn by Gebrselassie when he broke his own world record for a marathon by nearly half a minute. The shoe never saw a public release, and has been a historic part of the brand’s archives for the last sixteen years, until now.

This week, images of a public release of the Adios Neftenga surfaced online, with, shockingly, Wales Bonner branding on the tongues. The shoe’s shape and style make them a perfect canvas for the British fashion label to create with, but instead they are paying homage to the shoe’s history by releasing the model in a one-for-one recreation of the pair in adidas’ archives, signed by Haile. The look comes in a bright yellow color scheme with metallic silver and black accents, with Wales Bonner logos on each tongue.

WALES BONNER X ADIDAS ADIOS NEFTENGA “LIGHT YELLOW” RELEASE INFORMATION

The next release from Britain’s Wales Bonner and adidas has not been officially scheduled yet, but sources say the new Adios Neftenga silhouette will arrive sometime during the FW24 season. Dressed in a “Light Yellow” color scheme, pairs will be available from both partners as well as select retailers, though a price tag is currently unknown.
