Saucony has been steadily gaining cultural cache in recent years through some excellent collabs and in-house projects. This week, their latest special release is set to hit shelves, the Japanese tea house-inspired “Kissaten” pack.

Saucony’s archive of retro running shoes have become the perfect source for their lifestyle lineup in recent years. The East Coast brand has revitalized their presence in the sneaker world through a number of high-profile collaborations since 2020, many of which have focused on the ProGrid Triumph 4 and Omni 9 runners. These slim, techy runners lean into the same aesthetic that brought New Balance’s current wave of popularity, using breathable mesh and synthetic paneling as a base for some wild color schemes.

This week, Saucony has prepared an excellent new Spring offering, uniting three classic silhouettes under the “Kissaten” banner. Kissatens are Japanese tea houses popularized in the early 1900s, bringing back traditional ideals of a quiet space to enjoy coffee or tea in peace. Saucony’s new collection brings the Triumph 4, Omni 9, and Shadow 5000 together through a special floral print, applied sparingly to each model. the rest of the shoes are colored in pastel tones, set over white bases for the Shadow and Omni styles, while the Triumph gets a dark marine blue mesh layer. This project also marks Saucony’s first raffle release with EQL, as the brand tests out a new way to get special product into the hands of their fans.
