The return of the ASICS GEL SD LYTE was confirmed by Comme des Garcons when the Japanese label’s SHIRT sub-line revealed a collaboration earlier in June. Although those pairs aren’t set to hit market until Spring/Summer 2026, ASICS will be re-issuing this early 2010s running/training model under Kiko Kostadinov’s oversight.

A first look at the ASICS UB12-S GEL SD LYTE has been revealed in two colorways of Lichen Rock and Rust Orange. Both feature the original silhouette of the SD LYTE, but with the gorp-esque add-ons via the asymmetrical pull-tabs atop the tongue. Unlike the simple two-toned options in primary colors set forth by CDG, this upcoming selection opts for that pure outdoor appeal with colors often seen on technical outdoor gear.

The GEL SD LYTE figures to be a focal point of the Japanese sportswear brand in 2026, with several collaborations and in-line models certain to come to light. For now, these pairs have dropped at select ASICS retailers such as Premier, so take a closer look ahead and stay tuned for release updates.
