From its humblest beginnings in 1972, the Nike Cortez has risen the ranks to be one of the most culturally iconic sneakers of all-time. Much of that distinction is due to its role in Forrest Gump, in which the sneaker from then-obscure American brand cushioned the Greenbow, Alabama native through a coast-to-coast jog for…apparently nothing.
Today, the Cortez is a mainstay in the Nike Sportswear seasonal collection, arriving in a various tonal color schemes to belong with any outfit you choose. Here, we see this women’s version dressed in Guava Ice, a neon-tinged orange made popular by Union Los Angeles (who used their signature color on one of their recently dropped Field Generals). Finished off with blackened accents on the Swoosh and sole, this Cortez is a fine selection for the second half of summer.
Look for these to arrive on Nike.com sooner than later for $90.
