First spotted on Gustavo Soares, the New Balance 2000 has to be in the conversation for the company’s buzziest silhouette in recent memory even before it hits the shelves. By jumping the Boston brand’s design language forward by what feels like a century, the futuristic runner is among the more highly-anticipated models that 2025 will introduce us to. Following two vibrant editions that hit the ‘net early, the New Balance 2000 circles back to a trademark grey-heavy edition.

Though the chunky sole underfoot featuring split pods of ABZORB cushioning calls to mind the New Balance 9060, the thin graphic overlays on the upper mark new territory for New Balance. These detail shots reveal the dense linework that paces the shoe, particularly noticeable on the medial side where striped overlays curve around a similar sectioned midfoot plate.

As for the palette at play, the mesh build up top executes an earnest gradient look on the New Balance 2000, a design choice we don’t see too often in their other endeavors. It’s again a moment where the “old-meets-new” concept we cited in our original coverage of the shoe takes over, spinning out the trademark NB “Grey Days” side of the color wheel into a novel formula.
