The Air Jordan 40 made its debut at the end of Summer, arriving in a small assortment of colorways over the last few months. Now, Jordan Brand has turned to past iconic models & colors for special releases, adding an “Infrared” style to their release lineup for early 2026.

Jordan Brand is celebrating forty years of Michael Jordan’s signature shoes this year, releasing tons of special product like the AJ1 “Bred” along the way. One of the highlights of their year has been the introduction of the latest in-line signature model, the Air Jordan 40. Similar to past pivotal silhouettes, the AJ40 strips back the design of previous iterations a bit, opting for a more streamlines, stylish approach to the model. With their introductory colors behind them, JB has turned to their past to inform the future.

Our first hint at the Air Jordan 40’s ‘retro’ series came in October, with the appearance of the AJ 40/16 and 40/23 models. These pairs add design elements and colorways directly from previous mainline models, creating a celebration of the brand’s forty year history. This week, another pair has joined the series, this time paying homage to the Air Jordan 6’s fan-favorite “Infrared” color scheme. The new style dons a jet black suede upper, all the way down to the midsoles. The neon red namesake color appears on the shoe’s Jumpman branding and outsole, mimicking the color blocking of the OG look.

AIR JORDAN 40 “INFRARED” RELEASE INFORMATION

The latest addition to Jordan Brand’s assortment of AJ40 styles inspired by iconic models has not been announced yet, but is expected to arrive in February 2026. This pair takes on the fan-favorite “Infrared” color scheme from the AJ6, pitting the 40 in all black with neon red accents. Pairs will be available from both Nike and select basketball retailers, with the usual price tag of $205.
