Those who unsuccessfully tried for a pair of the Mars Yard 3.0 are in for a bit of a consolation prize (or participation award). Tom Sachs and Nike have announced the General Purpose Participation Shoe — available only to those who took an L on the Mars Yard 3.0 through the ISRU App.
Tom Sachs’ General Purpose Shoe debuted in 2022 and enjoyed a strong yet short-lived run before being shelved when Nike briefly parted ways with the New York artist. Engineered as a “do-everything” sneaker, the model features a breathable knit upper, suede mudguards, a foam-cushioned midsole, and a rubber outsole inspired by the legendary Waffle Racer.
The General Purpose Participation Shoe features white and grey mesh and suede, finished with vintage, pre-yellowed treatments on the Swoosh and midsole. Handwritten text covers the medial side, complemented by red branded elements and pull tabs on the tongue and heel.
The General Purpose Participation Shoe is available for preorder now on Tom Sachs’ ISRU App. Again, you must have tried — and failed — to cop the Mars Yard 3.0 on the app in order to enter. The sneaker ships out in Summer 2026, priced at $110.
