The current generation of fashionistas conveniently abbreviates the early 2000s ethos as “Y2K”. Truth is, there’s no one way to describe the design of the times as it covered a 360-degree range in direction, from gimmicky futurism to extreme minimalism.

The Nike Air SuperFly from 2001 skews to the latter end of that spectrum with its paled down construction, lightweight upper, and aerodynamic look, a total package that sits right in the crosshairs of what’s in demand today.
