Ja Morant’s journey with Nike kicked off with a bang as he debuted the Nike Ja 1 in early 2024 in a jaw-dropping “Scratch” colorway inspired by the Grizzlies’ throwback uniforms. Thankfully, that nostalgia continued with the Nike Ja 2 signature model with the clawed graphics actually ripping through the upper on the “Black Label” release. Now, Nike has prepared a proper colorway befitting the vintage uniforms anchored by a rich Rapid Teal.

Set to release on May 1st, this Nike Ja 2 “Scratch” features a teal-based upper with hits of University Red on the Swoosh and touches of Ale Brown on Morant’s peak logo on the tongue. Unlike the higher-priced and limited-edition Black Label drop from earlier this February, this version of the Scratch 2s features the shredded detail via an overlay vs. actual cut-out fashion. The claw marks descend down onto the white midsole to finish out the concept.

Again, Ja fans will have to wait until May 1st, 2025 for these to hit Nike Basketball retailers. For now, you can cheer Ja on as he attempts to lead Memphis to the 8th seed in a do-or-die Play-in game against the Dallas Mavericks.
