Kobe 5 “Caitlin Clark,” Jordan 3 “Pure Money,” And This Week’s Best Releases

If you’ve had money burning a hole in your pocket, you’ve got to be glad that June has come and gone, this year very much a victim of summertime slowdowns in the footwear industry. However, as we turn the page to July, things are heating up early.

As always, our headline spoils the two pairs we’re looking forward to most: Caitlin Clark’s Nike Kobe 5 Protro and the Air Jordan 3 “Pure Money,” to be specific. As the start of the month has tended to recently, July 1st has a ton in store for the hoops fans, from new looks for the KD 18 and Book 1 to duos for the A’One and GT Cut 3 Turbo. Looking ahead and rounding out the slate, Jeong Li teams up with Salomon, the 2002R “Protection Pack” touches down anew in the EU, and a bevy of new Pegasus Premium colorways make headway.

We don’t have to wait long for the grand prize, as June 30th brings the Nike x Caitlin Clark Kobe 5, a hi-visibility way to bring about the Indiana superstar’s first official Swoosh release.

While July 1st is a quantity-filled day as the first of the month tends to be, it’s a bit easier to parse out than in most similar junctures. It starts with the Kobe x Air Force 1 “Forever White” (hitting Foot Locker). Nike Basketball earns many of the headlines: the Nike Book 1 “Night,” Air Max Uptempo ’95 “NY v. NY,” KD 18 “Boys & Girls Clubs,” GT Cut 3 Turbo PEs and two editions of A’ja Wilson’s shoe (the A’One “Her Time To Shine” and A’One “Unapologetic”) start the month off with some special edition flare. The Swoosh gets involved elsewhere with the Air Max Moto 2K, tipping off six initial colorways. The Big Cat continues its remodels of one of its dominant models via the PUMA Mostro Jelly before the Boston brand closes us out, queueing up two summery looks for the New Balance Fresh Foam BB v4 and restocking the New Balance 2002R “Protection Pack” only in the EU. 

Gorpcore devotees are eating good on July 2nd, seeing the launch of an archival ACG style with the ACG Phassad “Yellow Zest” and ACG Phassad “Cave Stone” while also witnessing a new partnership be born in the Jeong Li Salomon XA PRO 3D.

The weekly Jordan release comes a bit earlier on July 3rd, when the Air Jordan 3 “Pure Money” finally makes landfall. Nike cooks up its own notable with the Kool Aid Ja 2, the second such collab between Morant and the Man, while adidas introduces a new face in its Hoops category: the Dame X “Lucid Lime.” Rounding out this Wednesday and potentially the week as a whole, the Nike SB Dunk Low “Dark Team Red” accompanies a massive drop off of colorways for the Nike Pegasus Premium as some inline Swoosh drops, the New Balance 991v2 issues another two-pack, and Mr. Williamson gets sentimental via the Jordan Zion 4 “Noah.”
