Trae Young is currently sidelined with an MCL injury, preventing the Jumpman from leveraging his can’t-miss playstyle to highlight their latest on-court efforts. However, nothing is stopping one of Beaverton’s newer signees from utilizing his stardom for off-the-court purposes. Case in point: Ice Trae’s most notable moment in the spotlight with regard to footwear since entering the Swoosh empire — the dawn of a graffiti-printed Air Jordan 3.

Debuted as Trae landed on the West Coast while he and the Hawks shifted focus to a matchup with the Clippers, this new variation was spotted in the point guard’s walk after making landfall and en route shortly afterward. The former provides the best angle, showing a printed takeover of the wraparound upper panel, shifting materials and hues for the mudguard and remaining real estate into something more traditional.

That central section appears to take inspiration from the concrete wall background of the “Basketball 1989” playground poster, also evidently owing some of its off-white and rosier tones to that same locus. When combined with news of the Air Jordan 4 “Flight Club” and already released pairs like the Air Jordan 1 “Black Toe Reimagined,” this is a further demonstration of Jordan Brand’s archive-digging efforts, pulling the basis for multiple Retro colorways from bygone marketing materials predating the genesis of Jordan Brand itself.
