If there’s one shoe that encapsulates sneaker trends in 2025, it might be the New Balance 204L. It combines the low-cut, slim silhouette of soccer models and retro runners with the materials and layered construction of Y2K tech runners — effectively blending multiple eras and categories into a single, cohesive look. Given that early releases have already seen solid demand, there’s strong potential for the 204L to break into the mainstream.

Next up for the New Balance 204L is a mixed-media blue and red colorway. Off-white mesh forms the base of the design, layered with blue leather underlays and blue suede overlays. Interestingly, the pair adds a twist with a suede toe box — a notable deviation from the model’s typically mesh-heavy builds. Clay red accents appear on the New Balance logos and interior lining, while a black and red outsole completes the look.
