The Air Jordan 1 “Rookie Of The Year” Is Returning As A Low-Top

One of the best Air Jordan 1s in recent memory is returning as a low-top; the Jordan 1 “Rookie Of The Year” from 2018, a shoe widely celebrated for its high-quality materials and well-executed theme.

The the uninformed, the “Rookie Of The Year” is inspired by a tan jacket Michael Jordan wore during the NBA’s 1985 award ceremony, where he was of course presented with his Rookie Of The Year Award. The 2018 release featured “Golden Harvest” nubuck overlays and a white leather base, bordering “Chicago” color blocking if not for a black outsole. It’s well regarded as one of the best AJ1s of the modern era in terms of material quality and one of the best non-original Jordan 1 colorways of all time.

The low-top should mimic the same color blocking to the best of it’s ability, but naturally, all focus will be on whether or not its materials live up to the precedent set by the high-top. It’s also worth suggesting that the shoes might come with a “Sail” midsole like we’ve seen across other returning Jordan shoes, but we’ll need to wait on official images to say for sure.

In addition to the Jordan 1 Low “Rookie Of The Year,” there are a handful of other high-top 1s that are expected to return as low-tops. The Jordan 1 Low “Mocha” and “Game Royal” are both arriving this year, and the Jordan 1 “Obsidian” from 2019 and Art Basel-exclusive “Rust Pink” grail from 2017 are also expected to assume a low-top profile. Notably, the “Rust Pink” is also expected to feature the original, larger Swoosh.

Currently, the Jordan 1 Low OG “Rookie Of The Year” is expected to arrive January 11th, 2025 for $140, teeing off an action packed year for Jordan releases. Stick with us while we provide updates and detailed images as the drop looms closer.
