Nike Basketball is on a heater right now with some excellent choices of retros and great new designs like the GT Future. This week, we’ve learned of a new addition to their retro lineup for 2026, the Air Zoom Flight ‘The Glove’ will make its first appearance since 2014.
The Nike Air Zoom Flight ‘The Glove’ first dropped in 1998 as basketball standout designed for and worn by Gary Payton, who earned the “Glove” nickname for his elite defense. The model came from the mind of designer Eric Avar, legendary Nike Basketball team member behind the Kobe line. The shoe blended bold performance tech, like a full-length Zoom Air unit and the “Monkey Paw” support wing, with an external zippered shroud that concealed the laces for a sleek fit. What makes the Glove a cultural staple is how it bridged court performance with street style in the late ’90s. Zipped-up, tech-heavy but still wearable, it helped shape sneaker-heritage fashion and remains a sought-after relic among collectors today.
Luckily, those collectors will get a chance at a brand new pair of The Glove next year, as leakers say Nike will deliver another retro of the iconic model in 2026. The shoe’s last major retro release was in 2013, and followed up in 2014 with additional colorways. The first pair up will likely be the OG black & white pair seen here, which features a black shroud with bold white Swoosh logos, and a white toe. Under the zippered section, the shoe boasts some dark red accents for a pop of color.

Nike’s retro of their Air Zoom Flight The Glove has not been formally announced yet, as the information below comes from a leak of their 2026 schedule. There is currently no seasonal release window. The pair listed below will likely be the OG black and white version seen in these photos, last retroed in 2013. Pairs will likely be available from both Nike and select retailers. No pricing info is available yet.
