The New York Mets will need to mount a furious comeback of epic proportions if the embattled team wants to reach the postseason for the second year in a row. An unbridled disappointment compared to last season, the current 2023 campaign has been a struggle for the Metropolitans as they stand with a sub-.500 record with just 71 games to go.

In order for the Amazin’s to even sniff more than 162 games, they’ll need MVP-level play from their superstars. The stakes are especially high for Francisco Lindor, who signed a massive 10-year, $341 million contract at the start of the 2021 season.

A case can be made that Lindor was snubbed from the All-Star Game two seasons in a row, but a player of his stature should be a shoo-in, not a potential reserve replacement. Regardless of not being called to the mid-summer classic, Lindor has been tearing it up at the plate since the birth of his second daughter while maintaining platinum glove levels of defense at the 6.

Perhaps his new signature shoe, the New Balance Lindor 2, will act as a boost of confidence for the switch-hitter. Today, New Balance and Frankie launch the Lindor 2 cleats in a launch “Summer Storm” colorway. And for those who are firm supporters of the Puerto Rican, an off-the-diamond lifestyle/training shoe called the Lindor 2 Pre-Game has also debuted. A design carries over from the cleat version, but with diagonal mid-foot straps, speedlace closures, and full-length FuelCell Foam cushioning.

Both the Lindor 2 and the Pre-Game counterpart are available now from New Balance — both in the “Summer Storm” edition.
