Comme des Garçons remains as busy as ever in the footwear world, fortifying its long-standing ties to Nike and Converse by adding output with fresher partners like ASICS and New Balance. Last visiting Boston with monochromatic variations of the 990v6, CDG looks to the New Balance 509 for a capsule that just touched down in select markets.

In mainline applications, the New Balance 509 competes in the $100 price tier, a step down from its siblings like the 1906R, but still carries through the throwback runner vibe all the same. As we’ve noted in previous coverage, despite being in the ether for months now, we’ve seen but a select few variations of the shoe. Linking up with the beloved luxury brand is a surefire way to capture attention. It shouldn’t come as anything close to a surprise that monochromatic aesthetics are in focus once again for CDG, utilizing all-white and all-grey, the latter delivering a bit more layer and depth than the flooded concepts they’ve explored before.
